Guidelines for
Final Leadership Paper (FLP) F2004
You ought now to be able to say some important
new things about your own leadership (not leadership in general), based upon what we have studied this
semester: Shackleton, frames, Lead Self vs Lead Other Data, etc. Hopefully
you are gaining a better idea about the differences between what you espoused
in the first leadership paper and how others may actually experience your
leadership, your theory-in-use.
Check list:
- Have you addressed what you
have learned new about your leadership this semester, from Reframing,
about leadership and Shackleton, from our class discussions, data from
Lead Self/Other, other class material and discussions.
- The FLP should try to address any new
insights about how you think others experience your leadership. Some folks
have found feedback sessions with subordinates or others who know you well
to be valuable sources of information to understand your theory-in-use. Maybe the folks in
your study group can give you some feedback about how they experience
your leadership.
- A part of this paper should also include
any thing you think important about your
leadership plan. Explain how you think you can learn more about your leadership
and how you plan to set about learning more about your leadership.
Be as specific as possible.
- The FLPs are to be about three
pages (750 words) long.
Other criteria for Grading
FLP
- Writing
is is a resource
about writing I have prepared for all the courses I teach at UMKC. After I find three major problems
in your writing, e.g., major grammatical errors, terribly convoluted,
unedited, awkward and
confusing sentences, general incoherence, I will stop editing your paper
and you will lose at least a full grade on your paper. If the paper has
many more than three major grammatical problems, you may lose another grade.
