Instructions for Scoring a Picture by Frames
Using the ideas of reframing, we can look for four perspectives: the structural, the human resource, the political, and the symbolic frames.
The scoring of the story is not so precise as scoring, say, a multiple-choice test. Here are the guidelines that you should use to score the story.
Using these guidelines, score your stories for the presences of behaviors as noted the following table Coding Frame Responses
Two things are important to remember as you score your story:
1. Try to keep in mind what your real intent was as you were formulating your story. For example, did you really intend that a person in the picture was attempting to express a feeling of positive regard for the other person? If so, give yourself a point for the human resource frame. Be honest. There were no right or wrong answers on this test.
2. Don't take this exercise too seriously. We would need to hear your descriptions of many more stories to begin to understand how you are inclined to frame your organizational experience.
