o
Contracting (Continued)

We are building a classroom organization that is a bit more complex than most.

oSyllabus is a bit complicated. It is both a formal and psychological contract between the instructor and each student (the traditional) , and among students as individuals as well as across and within your respective groups (this class as more complicated).

We contract not just vertically but horizontally as well.

oContracting process is your opportunity to shape the agreement both vertically and horizontally: formal is mostly static; psychological is always dynamic.

Meet in groups.  Discuss:

nWhat makes sense or looks good?
nWhat’s not clear?
nWhat would you like to change?
oHave a rationale: how will the change promote learning?
