Jury #2, Mr. John Fiedler is the “wimpy, balding blank clerk/teller, who’s easily persuaded, meek, hesitant, goes along with the majority, and is eager to offer cough drops during tense times of argument.

From my observation, the majority of his communication was to try and keep relations between the group members harmonious. Mr. Fiedler also is a group observer/reflector who supplies the group with conversations about its procedures. Occasionally he was a blocker who disagrees with the group and revives old issues for discussion. Other roles that he briefly displayed during the movie were the following:

• orienter who keeps the group focused on its goals
• recorder who acts as the memory of the group
• compromiser who offers to compromise own position to keep the group harmonious
• gatekeeper who facilitates the participation of others in the group
• group consensus tester attends to the process of consensus building
• help seeker who looks for sympathy from others
