oWe are building a classroom organization that can become a bit more complex than most. The online syllabus  is both a formal and psychological contract between the instructor and each student. These contracts also operate among students as members of a group as well as among our respective groups.

We contract and organize not just vertically, but horizontally as well. Organizations that use teams face the same challenge.

oThe following contracting process is your opportunity to help shape our understanding and agreement in all these directions.

Meet in groups.

A. First, pick a name for your group. Be creative. Have fun with this one.
B. Then discuss:

n1. What makes sense about the course so far or looks good to you?
n2. What’s not clear?
n3. Anything you would you like to change?
o4. Have a rationale: how will the change promote learning?
5. Any thoughts about how we can make this a really good learning experience?
6.
How can we assure we  "make sure "info flows freely" or "how will we deal with conflict or differences, among students, with the instructor"?
