Questions for October 25-

Joshua Graham: (Kristi)

Hackman talks about virtual teams on page 130. Have you ever been on a virtual team? How did you view the experience? Did you feel it was a benefit not being required to have all team members located at the same location? If you've never been on one, do you think the idea of a virtual team would help in your position?

Jeff Wichman: (Scott)

With the improvements in technology can a virtual team be as effective as a team in which all the members are physically located in the same location?

Rachel Fowler: (Matt)

I read an article related to the topic of virtual workplaces relating to instant messaging. I was interested to know how many people actually use instant messaging in their workplace and how it has affected the atmosphere. Do people tend to rely on IM instead of interacting face to face and how does this change work relationships?

Joshua Key: (Justin)

How would you go about implementing Hackman's model in a virtual team? How would you provide expert coaching with someone you only communicate with through electronic means? Does the cost of face to face meetings make virtual teams less likely in the business world?

Audra Robinson: (Chris)

Thompson discusses electronic brainstorming in Chapter 8. Has anyone in this class ever experienced EBS? If so, was it effective? If not, does it sound like a creative outlet that would be effective in your workplace?
