Tina Hines Ph.D., R.N., is a professor at the UMKC
School of Nursing. She is a scholar whose research targets cardiovascular
function during pregnancy. A research position focused on the life
sciences, her appointment is the first endowed professorship in nursing at
UMKC. Her endowed professorship was
established through a bequest of the late
Dale and Dorothy Thompson.
Dr.Hines's federally funded research explores
changes in the cardiovascular function during pregnancy. Her work has
been funded consistently by both internal and external sources since she
began her pre-doctoral training. National Institutes of Health funding for
her
research totals $1.35 million. In addition to her research grants, Dr.
Hines has published numerous articles about her findings in journals
including the American Journal of Physiology, the American Journal of
Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the Journal of Nursing Education.
Following 10 years of clinical practice in obstetrics and pediatrics, Dr.
Hines earned her doctoral degree in physiology from the University of
Louisville. She completed post-doctoral fellowships in obstetrics at the
University of Chicago and in Neurophysiology at the University of Texas
Health Science Center at San Antonio.
Dr.Hines was associate professor at the University
of Pittsburgh School of Nursing prior to her appointment at UMKC.
